Simple Friends Vs. Real Friends

A Simple friend has never seen you cry.
A Real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.

A Simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A Real friend knows that it's not a friendship until you've had a fight.

A Simple friend hates it when you call after he has gone to bed.
A Real friend asks you why you took so long to call.

A Simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.

Around the corner


Around the corner I have a friend,
In this city that has no end,

Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a sweet and terrible race,

He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine. We were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men,

Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

Tomorrow I say I will call on Jim
Just to show that I am thinking of him.

But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner! -Yet miles away,
Here is a telegram sir Jim died today

And thats what we get and deserve in the end.

As a Friend...

I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts, or fears.
But I can listen to you, and together we will search for answer.

I can't change your past with all its heartache and pain,
or the future with its untold stories.
But I can be there now when you need me to care.

I can't keep your feet from stumbling.
I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.
